Mount Monadnock

Mount Monadnock is located at Jaffrey, NH, southwest of NH 124.  The word “Monadnock” comes from the Abenaki language and it means “mountain that stands alone.”  Some people think Mt. Monadnock is actually the second most climbed mountain in the world, instead of the first.

There is a 5,000 acre Monadnock state park where the mountain stands.  The surface is made of packed earth, dirt, and rock.

If you want to climb Mt. Monadnock you have to pay fees.  All the trails together are 32.7 miles long.  If you want to reach the summit you should take White Dot Trail.  It is the shortest trail there.
